Stephen Ministry: Personal Angels Coming Soon to SHBC
October 7, 2019 | Ted Harvey
Stephen Ministers go through 50 hours of initial training and continue to meet twice a month for supervision and to hone their caring ministry skills. They learn how to actively listen, demonstrate compassion, help people express their worries, fears and more. An important part of the Stephen Ministry training is to recognize when a care receiver needs to be referred to a professional. Another key component of the training is that the Stephen Minister relationship with the care receiver is completely confidential. Stephen Ministers do not tell anyone who their care receiver is. The care receiver is free to tell people about their Stephen Minister, but the Stephen Minister respects the privacy of the care receiver.
If you are interested in learning more about providing care by offering a listening ear, and sharing a supportive perspective from God’s Word to those in need both within our Church and the community, please see Pastor Ted or Rey Green for additional information. But we hope everyone will make sure and mark November 3rd on their calendar. On November 3rd we will have a Stephen Ministry day capped off with a great lunch and brief overview of the ministry. All are welcome!!!
