Stephen Ministers: A Heart for the Hurting
September 23, 2019 | Rey Green and Pastor Ted
November 3rd we are planning a Stephen Ministry day at church to share how you can become a Stephen Minister. Stephen Ministers are compassionate individuals who are trained to help us when we encounter loss, grief, relationship challenges, and a myriad of things that can throw our lives into a tailspin. Stephen Ministers are not “know-it-alls.” They are not individuals who try to fix everyone’s troubles. They simply provide love, care and support when we need it most.
For those who want to come alongside and support others in a more intentional way, SHBC will provide training to become a Stephen Minister. Through the 50 hours of training that is scheduled to begin in January 2020, you will receive practical hands-on learning and resources to provide Christ-centered care and meet the emotional and spiritual needs of others. The skills you learn during the training will support both your caring ministry and your relationships with family, friends and co-workers. Good listening skills can be used in all walks of life.
You will also be supported in your ministry by our team of Stephen Leaders, who will help you grow as you help others. Becoming a Stephen Minister may be one of the most rewarding opportunities you will ever embrace.
If you would like to learn more about becoming a Stephen Minister, please put your name and contact information on the sign-up sheet in the café area. Pastor Ted or Rey Green will get in touch with you to provide information. Please also mark in your calendars, November 3rd as a day we will share additional information over lunch about becoming a Stephen Minister.
